So when Hawkins was hired in 2009 as a planner for the Fort Worth Police Department, the city agreed to accommodate her by allowing her to work at home part-time. Even when Police Chief Jeffrey Halstead said other employees could no longer work remotely, the city accommodated Hawkins.
