88,000 jobs created in March while labor participation rate hits 34-year low

The United States Department of Labor reported Friday morning that only 88,000 jobs were created in March, the lowest number in nine months and well below the projected 197,000. Employment grew in professional and business services as well as in health care but declined in retail.
