U.S. unemployment eases to 7.6%; fewer new jobs than expected

The nation's official unemployment rate eased a tenth of a point in March, to 7.6 percent, the U.S. Department of Labor reported Friday, but a different government yardstick showed U.S. payrolls adding an estimated 88,000 jobs last month, well under many economists' forecasts.
